Cape Town has not been called the "fairest Cape in the circumference of the earth" without good reason. It is indeed the Cape of Good Hope and the meeting place of two majestic oceans, the Indian and the vast Atlantic, making what could become the seaside and sea kayaking capital of the world! Now you can explore both sides of the Cape Peninsula in our safe, comfortable sit-on-top kayaks. It is the ideal craft for experienced paddlers wishing to paddle in False Bay with legendary Cape Point in the distance , as well as for those recreational paddlers who simply wish to cruise out on a calm bay and see Cape Town and its famous mountain from another perspective

Cape Town has a prolific sea life and an endless coastline. In season the Southern Right and Humpback whales migrate round the Cape. The Cape fur seals and African penguins are plentiful all year round. Add to this the delicious Cape lobster, perlemoen [abalone], crystal clear water and endless bays and you have a seaside route fit for all.

Approximately hundred kilometres from Cape Town lies Saldanha Bay and the Langebaan lagoon. Not only a traditional fishing port, it includes the West Coast National Park, a sanctuary for coastal birds and local wild life. Langebaan is a resort town on the edge of the lagoon and is our base for kayaking in the area. Nearby is traditional Churchaven, Postberg and Kraal Bay, still inhabited by fisherfolk from another era. Further north lies the true West Coast, simple and barren yet appealing with its space and timelessness. In early spring it is transformed into a wonderland of flowers. Launch from any of the little inlets in the area and enjoy the many contrasts. Famous for its sea food and open style eateries, there are many surprises waiting for you in this austere but unspoilt stretch of coast.

Possibly one of the world's prime nature retreats, with two hundred kilometres of indigenous forest, a relatively unspoilt coast and a network of lakes, estuaries and lagoons offering superb kayaking. Home of the exquisitely beautiful, but elusive Knysna loerie, a few elephant and a stretch of coast par excellence! Stretching beyond Mossel Bay, it may well be called Eden.

This young African state offers a land of contrasts, with the cold Atlantic bordering the ancient Namib desert and the Skeleton Coast, with some of the world's most impressive dunes, and the Okavango swamps and Etosha on its boundaries offering refuge to some of Africa's vast wildlife. For the first time you can now experience this land from the improbable vantage point of a sea kayak. Paddle on protected estuaries and have a close-up view of thousands of flamingos which frequent this area, or paddle in safe bays and enjoy the prolific sea life and views of the desert. Go on desert drives in the afternoons and enjoy the continental feel of Swakopmund, a German outpost of yore. Arrange a trip to the remote Kaokaveld and see forever.

This Indian Ocean Island is an independent country with a rich history and a diversity of exotic cultures, lying nearly midway between the continents of Africa and Australasia. It offers a 160 kilometres-long shoreline, almost entirely protected by a coral reef. The tropical conditions make paddling a delight and the only way to see the real island and the real people is from a kayak. Mauritius has a good infrastructure with excellent hotels and restaurants offering traditional cuisine. Best of all, it has no malaria, a rarity in a tropical setting!

Ravaged for twenty years by a civil war, Mozambique, as an unspoilt destination, is X one of the world's best kept secrets. When the war ended in 1994, Johan & Teresa Loots from Real Cape Adventures were there to explore this tropical paradise's potential for sea kayaking. Now, almost twenty years on, you can join RCA cc on one of its sea kayak adventures to the area, including a tour to Ibo in the Quirimbas Archipelago north of Pemba. If you wish to experience this wondrous place with its traditional dhows and swaying palms before it becomes spoilt, or totally exclusive, join us now!

Lake Malawi is Africa's inland sea. It is bordered by Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique and stretches a 1000 kms from north to south. The clear fresh water of the lake is inhabited by a variety of colourful tropical fish which nibble your toes as soon as you put your feet in the water. African fish eagles soar overhead and if you are lucky you will spot crocs and hippo's before they land on you. Join RCA and its operators on a paddle back in time, with traditional fishermen paddling past on their hollowed-out tree trunks, as bewildered by you as you will be by them.

Johan Loots from RCA paddled the Croatian coast in 2004 and has identified various stretches ideal for sea kayaking. Experience the historical coast of the former Yugoslavia, home to the Romans, Turks, Prussians and southern Slavs over the last 2000 years. The country offers a 7000 km coastline lapped by the Adriatic with over 1500 islands to choose from, all boasting ancient towns, cobbled country roads and old Italian-styled villas tucked away in secluded bays. It has over a 100 Blue Flag beaches and endless camping sites, mostly offering "au naturelle" camping, an unusual experience for the prudish. Join us for a fun paddling, cycling and sight-seeing tour before millions of folk from Western Europe discover just why Croatia was voted Lonely Planet's "Destination of the Year".
